Respect All.
Fear None.
A lineage most fighters
only dream of.
Steve Silvers started under Rickson Gracie, refined his no-gi game with Eddie Bravo and the 10th Planet system, studied under John Danaher, and trained alongside Gordon Ryan and Gary Tonon. Today he competes and trains under Adam Watts at Checkmat — the coach Steve credits with his biggest leap in the sport.
LOCKS The signature system
Where most coaches stop,
we begin.
The modern lower-body game is technical, precise, and brutal — and most coaches still haven't taken the time to really teach it. Steve has spent years inside the Danaher systems, drilled them live with the best, and translated the method into a curriculum any serious grappler can absorb.

Three continents.
One standard.
Subculture isn't a commercial gym chain — it's a real community of dedicated grapplers in the places Steve actually lives and teaches. He trains with each group in person on a regular cycle and stays connected remotely in between.
I've been lucky to learn from almost every great name this sport has produced. Adam Watts is the coach who finally put it all together for me.
